AAU Full Ice Mite League 2026

How does this work?

After doing your normal CHC - USA Hockey scheduling, reach back out and we'll see if we can find you some local full ice mite opponents. Everything informal

How much does it cost to join?

Each player will need an insurance policy through AAU (similar to USA Hockey):

$24 per player (This is similar to USA Hockey's player insurance policy which is $58 to $81 + $10 CHC affiliate fee)

Then, each team will charge parents their own fee based upon jerseys, ice time, coaching and administrative cost, etc

How much do coaches pay to register?

Coaches will need to pay $57 through AAU (which is similar to USA Hockey's $54 coaches membership fee, except that USA Hockey also charges $20 to $25 per online module and a $65 online Zoom seminar each year)

For our first year, we are only doing full ice mites (2018s and below), unless we get lots of interest for other ages and levels, in which case we will expand

Where are the games played?

We will use the home and away slots currently given to your team at local rinks. Complete your normal scheduling with your typical CHC - USA Hockey half ice opponents. Once you see which home and away slots you have available left, reach back out to us, and we'll see if we can schedule some AAU full ice mite games with your group. We are connecting and organizing the full ice mite teams in the area to cut down on travel

I'm not currently on a team. Can I join or start a team?

Can we use our typical jerseys?

The kids would need different jerseys, and a different team name from CHC admitted teams, as per USA Hockey policy

What about refs?

We will help find AAU-certified referees. They will not wear the USA Hockey patch, but will follow USA Hockey rules

Do we need to leave our current leagues?

No need for a commitment or to leave any current leagues. Just reach back out after doing your normal scheduling. If there are open home or away dates to fill as the season goes on, feel free to reach out and we'll see if we can fill the dates. You would still use your same ice slots, just a different league

What is the benefit of joining the league versus scheduling freely with other organizations?

Everything is informal. You don't need to leave your current league. We are just offering the service of Crossbar to help organize scheduling. We can also help fill opponents

Can I do this program and stay on my current half ice team?

Yes, lots of kids dual roster, and as long as the team you join is not a part of the CHC, then there is nothing they can do about it
